MCG head curator appointed

Sep 11, 2012

Allan Border Field ground manager David Sandurski has been appointed head curator at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Sandurski replaces Cameron Hodgkins, who last month resigned to relocate his family to Queensland after four years as arenas operations manager. He will be responsible for the preparation of all cricket pitches at the MCG.

Sandurski has spent the last 12 years employed by the Queensland Cricket Association to maintain Allan Border Field, a first-class cricket venue in Brisbane that regularly hosts Sheffield Shield and tour matches and is home to Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence.

While at Allan Border Field, Sandurski has also been seconded to assist in pitch preparation at The Gabba in Brisbane (Australia v New Zealand Test in 2004) and Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns (Top End Series in 2006).

“We are delighted to have secured the services of David Sandurski for such an important role,” said MCC CEO Stephen Gough.

“David is highly regarded in the cricket industry and we are confident he will acquit himself well and continue the fine work of our arenas team.”
