No public parking in Yarra Park this weekend

Aug 13, 2013

Due to its wet condition, Yarra Park will not be used for public vehicle parking this weekend.

This includes AFL matches on Friday August 16 (Hawthorn v Collingwood), Saturday August 17 (Richmond v Carlton) and Sunday August 18 (Melbourne v Fremantle) and concerts at Rod Laver Arena during that time.

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC), manager of Yarra Park, has assessed the park's condition and determined that the majority of the park would risk damage if used for vehicles this weekend.

However, the following groups will be allowed access on via Gate 3 only in the limited parking available:

• Disabled permit holders
• Passholders (corporate/club)
• Victoria Police
• St. John Ambulance
• AFL-accredited media
• MCC Event/Permanent staff
• Spotless catering staff
• ISS cleaning staff
• Securecorp security staff
• TPF Merchandise staff

The MCC encourages patrons to use public transport where possible.

Anyone driving to the MCG should seek an alternative parking area in Melbourne's CBD and surrounding inner suburbs.

DON’T try telling these Indian fans that last night’s World Cup semi-final was just a game. One kid sliced his own tongue - and that’s not the worst of it.
