Another two flags for bowls

MCC 1 and MCC 2 played in the grand final and won both divisions of Inner City Night Pennant on Wednesday March 21.

MCC 1 defeated Caulfield Park, 49 – 23.
MCC 2 defeated Camberwell Central, 36 – 35.

MCC 1 lost only two games for the season and proved they were the strongest side in Division 1.
It was a fantastic effort by MCC 2 as Camberwell lost only one other game through the whole season, but we were able to win the one that counted.

Pennant Championships

MCC 1 are the Division 2 Open Tuesday Pennant Champions after a 62 - 50 win over Vermont South at Doncaster Tuesday March 20.

Dean O’Neill is Regional U25 Champion

Congratulations to our youngest member, Dean O’Neill, who has been successful in winning the regional under 25 championship. The final was played in fine conditions at the Commonwealth Games complex at Darebin last Sunday.

Dean defeated Jack Woodhouse from Bundoora in a very tight game, with little more than a couple of shots separating the two players all afternoon.

Dean now goes through to the final 16 of the state under 25 championship.        

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
The prestigious clubs singles competitions have been completed for 2011/12:
    Men – Andrew Jackson defeated Dick Meadows.
    Ladies - Carmel Dowling defeated Liz Cook.
The results of the Club Pairs were:
    Men – Peter Marget and Ken Marshall defeated John Smith and Ron Butterworth.
    Ladies – Karen Thomson and Rae Graham defeated Carmel Dowling and Ying Locock.

PENNANT COMPETITIONS
Saturday pennant finals start Saturday February 25. We are well represented with MCC 1 and MCC 2 in Division 1 finals, MCC 4 in Division 4 and MCC 6 in Division 6.
With one round to play, both Tuesday pennant sides are guaranteed home finals with the first final to be played on March 6.
With three games to go in Wednesday evening pennant the number 1 side sits on top of the ladder and the number 2 side is in third place.
