WARNE: Treasures of a Legend exhibition extended for Summer of Cricket

Due to popular demand, the WARNE: Treasures of a Legend exhibition at the Australian Sports Museum at the Melbourne Cricket Ground has been extended until March 2027.

Originally scheduled to conclude next month, the exhibition will now continue for a further seven months and throughout the 2026/27 summer of cricket, giving more visitors the chance to discover Warne's most treasured personal items.

Highlights include the famous 'Gatting Ball', his 1999 Cricket World Cup winners medal, the ball from his 700th Test wicket, worn Test match shirts and boots and his iconic floppy white hat.

Fans travelling to Melbourne for the historic 150th Anniversary Test Match at the MCG in March 2027 will now have the opportunity to enjoy Warne’s items up close at the ground he called home.

Since opening, the exhibition has generated strong visitation numbers and contributed to December 2025 becoming the busiest tourism month at the MCG since 2016.

Visitors have been sharing their reactions to the exhibition:

"It's spine tingling. Brought me to tears.”
"Emotional, moving, fascinating and inspiring."
"Even as a non-cricket fan, you couldn’t help but be a bit emotional and full of pride.”
