An entertaining addition to the ‘G

Wednesday, September 13, 2023

He promised he would entertain us – and he did exactly that.

Almost one year ago, before the 2022 AFL Grand Final, international pop icon Robbie Williams captivated a crowd of 100,024 in what was the ultimate way to welcome fans back to the MCG for the last day in September – the first Grand Final at the venue since 2019.

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) Foundation – the philanthropic arm of the MCC – secured the pink suit after successfully bidding on the item as part of the McGrath Foundation’s Pink Test Memorabilia Auction. The MCC Foundation has an ongoing commitment to preserve Australia’s sporting history and enhance access to sport for all Australians.

The MCG is thrilled to now have a piece of this performance on display in time for fans to experience the full spirit of September!

The bright pink Alexander McQueen suit, donated to the McGrath Foundation by Williams himself, can now be seen on display near the entry to the Australian Sports Museum, located inside Gate 3.

The suit is accompanied by footage of Williams' memorable performance of Let Me Entertain You and will be on display until October 15.
