Getting Here

Location

The Australian Sports Museum and MCG Tours are located inside Gate 3 of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, within the confines of Yarra Park, East Melbourne.

Public Transport

Trains

• Jolimont Station (otherwise known as MCG Station) is north of the ground and is 400m through Yarra Park to Gate 3. From any railway station in the central business district, take the Hurstbridge or Epping lines.
• Richmond Station is 900m from the Australian Sports Museum and MCG Tours. You will need to pass Punt Road Oval and go through Yarra Park to reach Gate 3. To get to Richmond Station from the city, take any train on the Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein, Glen Waverley, Dandenong, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston or Sandringham lines.

Trams

• Route 75 (City-Vermont South) and Route 48 (City-North Balwyn) trams stop outside the MCG near Jolimont Station. Stop 11 Jolimont Station/MCG is 300m from Gate 3 at the MCG.
• Route 70 (City-Wattle Park) detours from Flinders Street along Swan Street. The tram stop is 600m from Gate 3. You will need to cross the bridge.

Buses

Bus route 246 is a useful service for patrons from the northern and southern suburbs. The bus stop on Punt Road is 600m from the MCG through Yarra Park.

School Groups

Victorian preschool, kindergarten or primary school excursion groups of 12 to 35 people can travel for free on public transport when the entire journey is on a school day between 9:00am and 4:00pm, or after 6pm (on V/Line) or 7pm (metropolitan services). Car Parking

There is no parking available at the MCG for Australian Sports Museum visitors.

Alternative Parking Options

• Eastern Plaza Car Park on Olympic Boulevard is the nearest multi-storey car park. There is a lift from this car park to the John Cain Arena Bridge which connects with the MCG concourse. It is approximately an 11 minute walk to the Australian Sports Museum. Car parking can be pre-booked here. Drive-up parking is subject to availability.
• On-Street Parking: There is limited street parking available near the MCG along Wellington Parade, Jolimont Street and Jolimont Terrace. Metered parking is also available around Fitzroy Gardens, the Botanical Gardens and along the Yarra River.

Accessible Parking

We offer limited accessible parking for Australian Sports Museum and MCG Tours customers who hold a valid Australian Disability Parking Permit. This only applies to non-event days and must be booked in advance.

Coaches

The drop off zone and turning circle are located at the corner of Jolimont Terrace and Jolimont Street. As this is not a parking zone, buses will need to move to street parking after drop off.

Taxi/Ride Share

Taxis and ride share vehicles are instructed to drop off and pick up passengers from the Bus Turning Circle, on the corner of Jolimont Terrace and Jolimont Street. From this point it is approximately a 5 minute walk to Gate 3.
