Cricket honour boards

Test cricketers have every incentive to excel at the MCG. As well as thrilling the crowd and performing well for his country, they can earn themselves a lasting place in the history of The People’s Ground - alongside some of the greatest players ever to have played the game.

By scoring a century or taking five wickets in an innings, a player ensures that his name is added to one of the honour boards in the cricket dressing rooms.

These boards, in the 'home' and 'away' dressing rooms, provide a permanent reminder of the best batting and bowling performances in the long history of the MCG.

The contents of the honour boards in the 'home' dressing room, used by Australia record the feats of batsmen such as Sir Donald Bradman and Allan Border, and the achievements of bowlers including Keith Miller, Dennis Lillee and Shane Warne.

Bradman appears on the Test centuries list an astonishing nine times. Two all-rounders – Steve Waugh and Jack Gregory - have the distinction of appearing on both the batting and bowling honour boards.

The boards in the visitors' dressing room record the achievements of remarkable batsmen like Jack Hobbs, Sunil Gavaskar, Viv Richards and Sachin Tendulkar, great bowlers including Frank Tyson, Curtly Ambrose, Kapil Dev and Malcolm Marshall and superstar all-rounders such as Ian Botham, Imran Khan and Richard Hadlee.
